Telangana: CPI condemns ticket price hike for ‘Adarsha Kutumbam’

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned the Telangana government’s decision to permit a hike in cinema ticket prices for the film ‘Adarsha Kutumbam’, alleging that the move would burden ordinary moviegoers.
In a statement, CPI leader K Narayana questioned the government’s decision to allow special concessions to big-budget films to help producers recover their high production costs.
He argued that filmmaking was a commercial venture and producers should bear responsibility for their investments, risks and profits instead of passing the burden on to audiences.
Narayana asked why ordinary cinema-goers should be made to pay more to meet the extravagant expenditure of film producers.
He criticised the government for what he described as a policy of making the public pay more to benefit the film industry.
The CPI strongly opposed the ticket price hike and urged the government not to burden the public by granting special concessions to filmmakers.
