Telangana Govt announces Rs 1 lakh incentive for marriages between persons with disabilities

Hyderabad, May 20 (UNI) In a significant move towards empowering the disabled community, the Telangana government has announced an incentive of Rs 1 lakh for marriages between persons with disabilities.
This landmark decision has been welcomed as a long-pending demand finally fulfilled.
Muttineni Veeraiah, Chairman of the State Co-operative Corporation for the Handicapped Department, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other key leaders, stating, “Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has once again proven that he is the soulmate of disabled people.”
Under the previous administration, there was no such financial assistance for marriages between disabled individuals. “For the past 10 years, we have staged many protests to push for this demand, but the former KCR government did not respond,” said Veeraiah.
Acknowledging the proactive approach of the current administration, he added, “In today’s public administration government, every issue concerning the disabled is being addressed. I thank Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Minister Seethakka on behalf of all disabled individuals in the state.”
With this new provision, eligible couples will now receive Rs 1 lakh in addition to the existing Kalyana Lakshmi scheme benefits. “I have dreamed that if a disabled person marries another disabled person, they should be supported with this incentive. Today, that dream has come true,” Veeraiah added.
