Telangana Govt launches ‘Khelo Telangana’ fitness movement

Hyderabad, Sep 30 (UNI) The Telangana government has launched the ‘Khelo Telangana’ programme to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles among people across the state.
The initiative, launched by the Department of Sports and Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATG), encourages citizens to incorporate walking, running, yoga, sports and other physical activities into their daily routines.
State Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari, who participated in the programme at LB Stadium on Wednesday, urged people to spend at least 30 minutes every day on physical exercise.
He said public health was essential for building a prosperous Telangana and called upon students, youth, women, employees, professionals and senior citizens to participate in the fitness movement.
As part of the campaign, the Minister launched the ‘Khelo Telangana Bandhan Challenge’, issuing fitness challenges to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, DGP C V Anand, badminton player P.V. Sindhu, boxer Nikhat Zareen, para-athlete Deepthi Jeevanji, shooter Esha Singh and other prominent personalities.
Participants have been encouraged to nominate nine others to expand the campaign. Citizens have also been asked to create 27-second video reels showcasing their fitness activities and challenge nine others to participate. SATG will recognise and encourage videos that effectively promote fitness awareness.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Srihari called upon people to embrace the spirit of “Jago Telangana – Bhago Telangana – Khelo Telangana” and make fitness a part of everyday life.
SATG Deputy Director Ashok Kumar, PRO Kaleru Suresh, Gachibowli Stadium Administrator Kannam Madhu, coaches and athletes participated in the event.
