Telangana Jagruthi to observe Maha Dharna over notices to BRS chief KCR on Kaleshwaram project

Hyderabad, June 3 (UNI) Telangana Jagruthi, led by its president and Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLC K Kavitha, will hold a Maha Dharna near Indira Park here on Wednesday, in protest against the Congress government’s notices to BRS president and former CM K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) over the Kaleshwaram irrigation project.
KCR is to appear before the Justice PC Ghose Commission, probing irregularities in the execution of the multi-crore Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), on June 11.
Terming the notices a political conspiracy, Kavitham, daughter of party supremo KCR, said the protest would highlight how KCR transformed Telangana’s agricultural landscape by diverting Godavari river waters and turning barren lands fertile.
She accused the ruling Congress of targeting the former Chief Minister in an attempt to divert public attention from its governance failures.
Thousands of Telangana Jagruthi members and supporters of Chandrashekhar Rao from across the State are expected to take part in the protest.
According to reports, the Telangana Vigilance Commission (TVC) has recommended criminal and departmental action against construction giant L&T Precision Engineering and Systems (PES) and over 30 top irrigation officials - both serving and retired – for their alleged roles in the structural collapse of block 7 of the Medigadda barrage, which is part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS).
