Telangana launches common Metro-RTC pass for seamless travel in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 2 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday launched the HMRL-TGSRTC common pass at Prajabhavan, enabling passengers to use Metro and RTC services with a single pass.
The one-day pass costs Rs 400 (Rs 300 Metro and Rs 100 TGSRTC), while the monthly pass, valid for 30 calendar days, costs Rs 8,500 (Rs 7,000 Metro and Rs 1,500 TGSRTC). A refundable Rs 100 security deposit will be collected when the card is issued for the first time. The ‘Mee Ticket’ app was also launched.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka said Rs 52,000 crore worth of works were underway in Hyderabad, including Rs 38,000 crore Metro Phase-II projects, the Rs 30,627-crore 366-km Regional Ring Road, 21 radial roads, Musi rejuvenation and the 30,000-acre Bharat Future City. He said RTC, Metro and autos would be integrated through technology and more services brought onto a common digital platform.
He said the government aimed to operate only electric buses in Hyderabad and had introduced an auto-rickshaw retrofitting scheme and a dedicated EV policy.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government was focusing on first- and last-mile connectivity and integrating autos with RTC and Metro services. He highlighted the Mahalakshmi scheme providing free bus travel for women and appreciated RTC staff for handling the increased workload.
Prabhakar said auto fares, unchanged for nearly 12 years, would be revised fairly and a welfare board for auto workers would be established. He also requested Rs 350 crore monthly for RTC, including Rs 300 crore regular funding and an additional Rs 50 crore, to address retired employees’ issues.
A Government Order revising auto-rickshaw fares was issued. Bhatti Vikramarka and the ministers will travel by Metro from Begumpet at 1000 hours the following day using the common pass.
