Telangana Police awarded certificate for outstanding passport verification performance

New Delhi/Hyderabad, June 24 (UNI)The Telangana Police have been awarded a prestigious Certificate of Recognition by the Ministry of External Affairs for being one of the best-performing police forces in the country in passport application verification for the financial year 2024–2025.
The award was presented during the Passport Seva Diwas celebrations and Passport Officers Conference held in New Delhi today.
B Shivadhar Reddy, Director General (Intelligence), Telangana, received the certificate on behalf of the Telangana Police from Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs.
According to the Ministry, Telangana Police verified 8,06,684 passport applications during the financial year 2024–25, completing the process within an average of seven days, significantly ahead of the stipulated 15-day timeframe. This consistent efficiency positioned Telangana as a top performer nationwide.
In a move to modernise and streamline the verification process, Telangana Police have developed customised software solutions named ‘Satyaapan’ and ‘VeriFast’. These tools utilise face recognition and data-matching technologies to check applicants against databases like CCTNS, existing passport records, and other sources. The system helps detect criminal backgrounds, duplicate passport seekers, and fraudulent applications, ensuring a secure and transparent verification process.
Since 2014, Telangana has been recognised six times for its exemplary performance in passport verification services, underscoring the state's ongoing commitment to fool-proof verification, timely application processing, and zero tolerance for corruption.
Congratulating the force, Dr Jitender, DGP, Telangana, commended all unit officers, particularly those from the Special Branch, for their dedicated efforts in ensuring timely and accurate passport verifications. He stated that their performance has brought national recognition and accolades to the Telangana Police.
