Telangana sends power restoration teams to cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Oct 29 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has responded positively to a request from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for assistance in restoring electricity in cyclone-affected areas of the neighbouring state.
Following consultations with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, Bhatti Vikramarka directed electricity department officials to dispatch technical teams and necessary equipment to support restoration efforts in Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu and AP Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi briefed Bhatti Vikramarka on the extensive damage to power infrastructure in several districts, including Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Parvathipuram Manyam and Alluri Sitarama Raju. Preliminary estimates indicated that more than 16,000 electricity poles had collapsed, disrupting power supply to hundreds of villages.
The Deputy CM instructed Energy Department Special Chief Secretary Naveen Mittal, TGSPDCL CMD Jitesh V. Patil and NPDCL CMD Varun Reddy to make the necessary arrangements. Acting on the directions, TGSPDCL organised support teams comprising its personnel and dispatched them to Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
The teams will assist in repairing damaged electricity poles and power lines and restoring power supply to affected areas.
The Telangana government’s assistance reflects cooperation between the two Telugu-speaking states in responding to a natural disaster, with the aim of restoring essential services and helping affected communities return to normalcy, according to an official statement.
