Three coaches of goods train carrying Maruti cars derail in Bathinda. No casualties reported

Sangrur/Bathinda, Oct 16 (UNI) Three coaches of a goods train carrying newly manufactured Maruti Suzuki cars derailed near Rampura Phul railway station in Bathinda district on Friday, disrupting rail traffic on the affected section, officials said.
The goods train was travelling from Bathinda towards Ambala when the incident occurred near Rampura Phul railway station.
The derailment damaged the affected coaches and prompted railway authorities to launch restoration measures.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, according to preliminary reports.
Initial information suggested that a technical fault, possibly involving the train’s wheels, may have led to the derailment. However, the exact cause has not yet been officially established and is expected to be determined through a technical investigation.
Reports indicated that the affected coaches went off the tracks and tilted, potentially damaging sections of the railway track and nearby equipment.
The train was reportedly moving at a relatively low speed when the derailment took place, helping avert a potentially serious accident.
Railway officials and personnel reached the spot soon after the incident and assessed the situation.
Restoration work was initiated to remove the affected coaches, inspect the damaged track and restore normal rail movement.
The derailment temporarily disrupted train operations on the route as railway staff carried out safety checks and repair work.
The goods train was transporting new Maruti Suzuki cars from Bathinda to Ambala.
Further details regarding the extent of the damage, the cause of the derailment and the restoration of normal rail traffic were awaited.
Railway authorities are expected to determine the precise cause after examining the affected coaches, wheels and track infrastructure.
