Sivaganga (Tamil Nadu), May 6 (UNI) Three persons were killed and 16 others injured in a head-on collision between a container truck and a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus near Thennar river bridge at Karaikudi in the district in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police said the driver of the container truck transporting milk packets from a private dairy unit at Devakottai to Karaikudi lost control resulting in the collision.

The TNSTC bus was going to Rameswaram from Tiruchirapalli.

Three persons, identified as Karunakaran, Tamil Selvan and Arumugham travelling in the truck were killed, while 16 passengers including the driver of the TNSTC bus were injured.

All the injured were admitted to Karaikudi government hospital for treatment.

The Karaikudi police have registered a case and are investigating.
