Three of a family killed, one hut as car rams into tree

Chennai, May 20 (UNI) Three members of a family--a couple and their elder daughter--were killed and one sustained injuries when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree near Kangeyam in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.
Police sources said the deceased were identified as Raja (46), his wife Janaki (42) and their elder daughter Heminethra (15).
Their younger daughter Mounasri (10) sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
All the victims were natives of Tiruppur.
The family members were turning home in the car after attending a family function in Kerala, when Raja, who was behind the wheels, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the roadside tree.
In the impact, three of the four members were killed on the spot and the car was reduced to a mangled heap.
Upon receiving information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot extricated the bodies from the mangled car and shifted them to government hospital for post mortem examination.
