Chennai, May 17 (UNI) Asserting that Tamil Nadu is a Dravidian State and not

a saffron state, Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Saturday evening

said NEP-2020 will never be allowed in TN as it is aimed at saffronising and

destroying the State Education, while batting for bringing the education back

to the state list from the concurrent list.

He was speaking after releasing a book "Madhayaanai Enum NEP' (A Rogue

Elephant called NEP) by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi

at an event in the city .

Reiterating his strident opposition to the NEP, Mr Stalin said NEP policy is a

saffron policy and would never be allowed in Tamil Nadu.

"It will saffronise and destroy the state's education, besides the reservation

system and pluralism", he said.

"TN is not a saffron state, it is a Dravidian state", he said, stating that NEP

envisaged implementing three-language formula in the state and imposing

Hindi and Sanskrit in the State and will never be allowed in Tamil Nadu, while

referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's reported remarks of promoting

Sanskrit.

While observing that the State will continue to follow the long followed two-language

policy which formed the basis for growth in education sector and improve the skills

of the students, the Chief Minister said the need of the hour was to bring back

education to the State list from the concurrent list.

Referring to the Centre not releasing the Rs 2,152 crore funds under the SSA

scheme for not implementing the NEP, Mr Stalin the state will fight it legally to

get these due funds.
