Chennai, May 17 (UNI) Asserting that Tamil Nadu is a Dravidian State and not
a saffron state, Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Saturday evening
said NEP-2020 will never be allowed in TN as it is aimed at saffronising and
destroying the State Education, while batting for bringing the education back
to the state list from the concurrent list.
He was speaking after releasing a book "Madhayaanai Enum NEP' (A Rogue
Elephant called NEP) by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi
at an event in the city .
Reiterating his strident opposition to the NEP, Mr Stalin said NEP policy is a
saffron policy and would never be allowed in Tamil Nadu.
"It will saffronise and destroy the state's education, besides the reservation
system and pluralism", he said.
"TN is not a saffron state, it is a Dravidian state", he said, stating that NEP
envisaged implementing three-language formula in the state and imposing
Hindi and Sanskrit in the State and will never be allowed in Tamil Nadu, while
referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's reported remarks of promoting
Sanskrit.
While observing that the State will continue to follow the long followed two-language
policy which formed the basis for growth in education sector and improve the skills
of the students, the Chief Minister said the need of the hour was to bring back
education to the State list from the concurrent list.
Referring to the Centre not releasing the Rs 2,152 crore funds under the SSA
scheme for not implementing the NEP, Mr Stalin the state will fight it legally to
get these due funds.
