Tripura folk artist Raju Mog receives 2025 Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar

Agartala, Oct 20 (UNI) Tripura folk artist Raju Mog has received the 2025 Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for his efforts to preserve and promote the state's traditional Sangrain dance, earning national recognition for his contribution to indigenous culture.
Mog, a resident of Daspara in Bir Chandra Manu, Shantirbazar, South Tripura, has spent nearly two decades mastering and popularising the traditional dance form through cultural performances across the country.
Tripura Minority Welfare Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat presented the award at a ceremony held recently at Rabindra Bhavan in the Meghdoot Theatre Complex. Mog received an angavastram and a copper plaque along with the honour.
"His success showcases years of dedication and a strong commitment to preserving traditional art," Noatia said, adding that Mog had participated in more than 300 state-level cultural events and over 100 national performances, taking Sangrain dance to audiences beyond Tripura.
Mog acknowledged the contribution of his maternal uncle, Congthing Mog, his mentor, Krairi Mog Choudhury, and other well-wishers, whose guidance and support helped shape his artistic journey.
The award ceremony recognised 55 young artists from across the country in five categories.
Chief Minister Manik Saha congratulated Mog, saying his achievement reflected the potential of traditional art forms to gain national recognition through sustained dedication.
He said the award is not only a personal milestone for Mog but also a moment of pride for Tripura's cultural heritage and the Mog community.
Saha added that the recognition has the ability to inspire young artists to remain connected to their roots, preserve indigenous traditions and contribute to the state's cultural legacy.
