Agartala, June 3 (UNI) Tripura has recorded significant success in curbing student dropout at the primary level, surpassing the national average in all key indicators, state education department officials said here on Tuesday.
According to records, dropout in Tripura at the primary level has declined to 0.5% in 2023–24, which was 1.4% in 2022–23, while the national average of dropout was recorded at 1.9%. At the upper primary level, the state registered a decline from 5.9% to 4.1%, outperforming the national average of 5.2%.
The most striking improvement was observed at the secondary level. The dropout rate plummeted from 17.9% in 2022–23 to 10.4% in 2023–24, significantly lower than the national average of 14.1%.
“These figures underscore the state’s sustained efforts to promote inclusive and quality education,” said a senior official of Tripura government. He attributed the success to targeted initiatives such as robust student tracking systems, increased community engagement, enhancements to the mid-day meal scheme, and upgrades in school infrastructure.
“Tripura’s commitment to equitable access to education is delivering tangible results, and we are determined to sustain this progress to ensure no child is left behind,” said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who also holds the education portfolio.
