TTD board resolves to enhance green cover in Tirumala hills to 80 percent

Tirumala, May 20 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board, the highest decision-making body of the world-famous Tirumala temple, in its meeting on Tuesday, resolved to increase the green cover in the Tirumala hills from the existing 68.14 per cent to 80 per cent.
Briefing the media after the board meeting held under his chairmanship along with TTD Executive Officer J Syamala Rao at Annamaiah Bhavan here, TTD Trust Board Chairman BR Naidu said that as per the instructions of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the board has given a nod to increase the green cover in the Tirumala hills through the Forest Department.
After the government's approval, it has been decided to release Rs. 4 crore to the Government Forest Department in phased manner including 1.74 crore for the year 2025-26, Rs. 1.13 crore in the year 2026-27, and Rs. 1.13 crore in the year 2027-28, the chairman added.
