Two arrested in Nuh cyber fraud cases; eight complaints linked to suspect's bank account

Nuh, Nov 7 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested two men in separate cybercrime cases in Nuh district, including one accused of cheating people through online advertisements for old currency notes and coins and another allegedly involved in supplying fraudulently obtained SIM cards and withdrawing proceeds of cyber fraud, police said.
A police official said the arrests were made by separate teams from Ferozepur Jhirka and Punhana as part of a drive against cybercrime launched under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Arpit Jain.
In the first case, a team from Ferozepur Jhirka arrested Soyab, a resident of Dorkhi village, near Badkali Chowk following information about his alleged involvement in online fraud involving the sale and purchase of old currency notes and coins.
Police said two mobile phones were recovered from the suspect. One of the devices contained four WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business accounts operating under different names, including Raj Gyani and Vikram Rathore.
The second phone, an iPhone, contained WhatsApp and digital payment applications, including Google Pay. Investigators also found messages, photographs and screenshots allegedly related to transactions involving old currency notes and coins.
According to police, the SIM cards used by the suspect were registered in the names of other individuals, including a person from Jalore district in Rajasthan.
In the second case, a police team from Punhana arrested Salman, a resident of Bisru village, near the Hodal-Punhana road.
Police alleged that Salman supplied fraudulently obtained SIM cards to cybercriminals and allowed his bank account to be used to receive money obtained through online fraud. He allegedly withdrew the funds in exchange for a commission.
During the search, police recovered a mobile phone containing two SIM cards and another SIM card, suspected of having been obtained fraudulently.
Investigators found that eight cyber fraud complaints registered in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand were linked to a Kotak Mahindra Bank account allegedly operated by the suspect.
“Eight cyber fraud complaints from four states were found linked to the bank account during verification on the cybercrime portal,” the police spokesperson said.
Police said cases had been registered in connection with both arrests, and that the seized mobile phones, SIM cards, and digital evidence were being examined to establish the extent of the alleged fraud and identify other possible suspects.
Further investigation is underway, the official added.
