UP: CPI(ML) condemns Neha Bora's arrest

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh unit of CPI(ML) has strongly condemned the arrest of AISA National President Neha Bora, leaders from several political parties, and social activists for protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar today demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The party also condemned the arrest of AISA UP State President Manish Kumar, youth, and civil society members who were marching from Parivartan Chowk in Lucknow today to make the same demand. The party demanded the unconditional and immediate release of all.
CPI(ML) State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav stated on these arrests that Gyanesh Kumar, who is responsible for vote theft, must go. Repression will not stop the movement but will intensify it. He further said that in addition to Delhi and Lucknow, "Save Democracy" protests were held in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Ballia, Ayodhya, Ghazipur, Sonbhadra, Pilibhit, Jalaun, Gonda, Moradabad, Maharajganj, and Chandauli, on Friday, Gandhi Jayanti day.
He said that these protests in the state were called for by the India Alliance and the Left parties. The CPI(ML), CPI(M), CPI, civil society, and other organizations participated. These protests demanded the removal of Gyanesh Kumar, a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the inclusion of all names wrongly deleted from voter lists, the amendment of the 2023 law for the appointment of Election Commissioners, and the cancellation of elections held after the SIR.
Speakers, recalling the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, said that the campaign to protect the right to vote, the right to protest, and democracy will intensify in the coming days. Not only Gyanesh Kumar, but even his patrons, (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi and (Union Home Minister Amit) Shah, will be unable to escape the heat of this movement. All of them will have to leave their posts because they are in power on the basis of vote theft.
