UP govt steps up preparations for cleanliness, safety & better civic amenities during Dussehra and Diwali

Lucknow, Oct 11 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has begun preparations to ensure clean, safe and improved urban amenities for residents across the state during the upcoming Dussehra, Diwali and other festivals.
UP Urban Development and Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma has directed the concerned officials to complete all arrangements on time and ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
The Energy Minister has instructed all urban local bodies across the state to ensure extensive cleanliness drives, pothole-free roads, proper drainage, waste disposal, fogging, anti-larval spraying and adequate street lighting.
He has also directed officials to conduct special cleanliness drives at temples, puja pandals and idol immersion routes, and ensure that road repairs are completed on time. After reviewing festival preparations with municipal commissioners, he instructed them to regularly monitor the arrangements.
The Energy Minister has directed officials to prioritise the prevention of electrical accidents while ensuring an uninterrupted power supply during the festive season.
He has also instructed them to inspect puja pandals to check electrical safety arrangements and conduct surveys of overhead power lines along procession routes.
The minister has directed officials to immediately repair loose or low-hanging wires and strictly enforce electrical safety standards.
He has further instructed departmental officials to closely monitor power supply arrangements at night during the festivals and ensure that uninterrupted electricity supply is maintained in every area.
He also issued necessary directions regarding the re-engagement of skilled contractual workers so that the services of experienced personnel can be utilised for the operation and maintenance of the power system.
