UP Govt tightens noose around criminals, illegal assets worth Rs. 15,233 crore seized

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) To strengthen law and order and curb organized crime in Uttar Pradesh, police and administration under the Yogi government have taken action at multiple levels. Police have arrested 23,601 bountied criminals, officials said.

They said in cybercrime cases, more than Rs 874.58 crore has been frozen or put on hold. Meanwhile, police have arrested 23,601 bountied criminals. Police have also seized illegal movable and immovable properties worth more than Rs 15,233 crore under the Gangsters Act.
UP Police is operating cybercrime police stations in all 75 districts of the state to prevent cybercrime. In addition, police stations in all districts have established cyber cells and help desks. Through the cybercrime portal and helpline number 1930, more than Rs 874.56 crore was frozen or put on hold from August 2019 to June 2026. Based on these achievements, Uttar Pradesh ranked first in the country in the cybercrime-related ranking in March 2026.
Since March 20, 2017, 303 criminals have been killed in police encounters, while 12,202 have been injured. During the same period, police arrested 23,601 bountied criminals and sent them to jail. Action was taken against 87,835 criminals under the Gangsters Act and against 995 criminals under the National Security Act.
Authorities seized illegal movable and immovable properties worth more than Rs 15,233 crore under the Gangsters Act.
Action was also taken against 68 mafias identified at the state level, along with members and associates of their gangs. Police registered 909 cases against them and arrested 651 people.
