UP: National Tribal Participation Festival to be held in Lucknow from November 23

Lucknow, Nov 2 (UNI) The National Tribal Participation Festival will be held in Lucknow from November 23 to 26.
Over 500 artists from 16 states will showcase their art and cultural heritage at the four-day festival, to be held at the UP Darshan Park in Gomti Nagar. Over 150 artisans will showcase their talents through tribal handicrafts, traditional jewellery, and artisanal products.
Organised on the occasion of the birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the festival aims to provide a broad platform for tribal art, culture, folk traditions, and traditional knowledge.
Cultural troupes from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Haryana will participate in the event, which will be organised under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
UP Culture and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that the event is being organised by the Uttar Pradesh Folk and Tribal Culture Institute under the joint aegis of the Culture Department, Social Welfare Department, Tribal Development Department, and the Tourism Directorate.
He stated that the festival will serve as a medium to disseminate tribal art and traditional knowledge to the new generation. It will provide an opportunity to showcase the folk traditions and cultural heritage of various states on a single platform.
The festival will feature performances by tribal artists, as well as the traditional arts of nomadic communities. Performances by flute players, magic, puppetry, impersonators, and actors will be a major attraction for the audience.
Rangoli and plays based on the life and contributions of Lord Birsa Munda will also be presented. The purpose of highlighting endangered folk arts is to preserve these arts and connect them with the new generation.
A crafts fair will also be held at the festival, where more than 150 artisans will showcase their products. Stalls will be set up for tribal cuisine, handicrafts, traditional jewellery, and tribal musical instruments.
Various workshops will be held, along with an exhibition of tribal paintings and handicrafts. Demonstrations will be held on the art of making useful and decorative items from jute and wheat stalks.
A rural setting will be created at the venue to introduce the tribal lifestyle. In addition, there will be a provision for the sale of books on tribal culture and traditions.
This year, Madhya Pradesh has been designated as the theme state of the festival. Under this initiative, the tribal art, folk traditions, and cultural heritage of the state will be specially showcased.
The participation of foreign artists and cultural groups is also proposed. This will provide an opportunity to experience the art and culture of different countries and promote cultural exchange. UNI MBD NST
