Uttarakhand police to strengthen security for CM, coming Kumbh and political movements

Dehradun, Sep 16 (UNI) Uttarakhand police have decided to tighten security for Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dham ahead of the upcoming Kumbh mela and assembly elections.
This was decided at the state police hedquarters following a meeting of intelligence officials with the DGP on Wednesday.
Officials at the state police here have informed that following recommendation of the intelligence division plan is to commission a strong security arrangement for upcoming Kumbh Mela and Assembly elections.
According to police officials decision was taken following a meeting of intelligence officials chaired by Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth on September 16 to deliberate over various security preparedness for Kumbha Mela and upcoming state assembly polls 2027.
A senior police police officer, on the condition of anonymity said, "Instructions were issued for strengthening security cover of the Chief Minister and other VIPs particularly during the assembly elections."
Officials of the intelligence division suggested that the DGP to call for early high-level inter-agency coordination meeting with officials from the ITBP, SSB, Indian Army, IB, State Police and ATS to discuss the security along international borders in the state.
Apart from this Seth also issued specific directives to maintain robust security for the ongoing Char Dham pilgrimage in Uttarakhand as well as the steadily rising number of tourists and devotees in the state.
DGP said, "misleading social media news are highly sensitive matter in current time. It turns volatile during major events like Kumbh and elections. In light of this, intelligence units should keep a constant watch on such news and posts. A fact-check system should be implemented so that people learn the truth timely and situation can be kept under control." UNI PS CDS
