Technology-driven education essential for keeping pace with changing academic landscape: CUHP VC

Dharamshala, Sep 16 (UNI) The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre of Himachal Pradesh Central University (CUHP), Dharamshala, is conducting an online Orientation and Sensitisation Programme on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, stressing the need for technological advancement in education.
The programme is being conducted online from September 15 to 23, 2026. It was inaugurated by CUHP Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal.
In his address, Prof Bansal highlighted the significance of NEP 2020 and its effective implementation. He also emphasised the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies in education and research.
He said the judicious use of AI and digital technologies could play an important role in making India a global leader in knowledge, skills, research and innovation.
The programme is being organised by CUHP's UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre in collaboration with Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, Garhwal, and Prashanta Chandra Mahalanobis College, Kolkata.
A total of 146 participants, including 88 women and 58 men from five states, have registered for the programme.
These include 104 participants from Uttarakhand, 37 from West Bengal, three from Himachal Pradesh, and one each from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Experts will guide participants on various aspects of NEP 2020, its implementation in higher education, innovations in teaching-learning, use of technology and the changing higher education landscape.
Director of the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre Prof Sandeep Kulshreshtha, Additional Director Prof Suman Sharma, Associate Director Dr Lalit Mohan Sharma and Programme Coordinator Dr Devesh Sharma attended the inaugural session.
The programme aims to help teachers and higher education stakeholders develop a comprehensive understanding of NEP 2020 and facilitate its effective implementation.
