Shimla, May 25 (UNI) Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur today demanded the resignation of Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, alleging that a SIT probe couldn't deliver justice to Vimal Negi's family after his death two months ago.
Addressing a press conference here today Thakur said that neither the SP nor DGP abide by the Chief Minister's orders and the entire law enforcement machinery is in a state of disarray.
"It seems now that corruption is mushrooming under this regime; and after the death of Vimal Negi there may possibly be bigger incidents if this government does not go," the BJP leader stated.
Responding to a media query, the former CM said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi this nation has improved its ranking, as it was on 11th position on economic development and now it is in Fourth position after leaving behind Japan.
He said that Prime Minister's radio broadcast Mann ki Baat is still popular and many people keenly listen to it.
On May 23, the Himachal Pradesh High Court ordered that the case of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi’s death be handed over to the CBI.
Posted as Chief engineer in Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL), Negi had gone missing on March 10 and later his body was found in Gobindsagar dam in Bilaspur on March 18. His family had moved court seeking the handing over of the case to the CBI for an “impartial” probe into the circumstances leading to his death. They alleged that he was being harassed at the work place.
