Visually impaired Papan Sutradhar tops Tripura TET exam

Agartala, June 26 (UNI) Visually impaired Papan Sutradhar of Bijoynagar in Mohanpur, near Agartala, scripted history by topping the Tripura Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)–II examination this year.
Papan scored over 80 percent in the exam conducted for the recruitment of teachers for the upper primary level. He secured 121 out of 150 marks fighting against multiple challenges, including economic hardship.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha congratulated Papan for his remarkable success and said, “Under his guidance, students will flourish and learn to overcome challenges. Papan becomes an inspiration for all of us, and he showed the way to success in sheer hard work and dedication.”
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who was elected from Mohanpur, met Papan and his parents. He promised to extend all possible help and support to Papan for his future career.
Nath said, “This year’s TET results have shown improvement compared to previous years. Around 6% candidates passed TET-I, and nearly 5% cleared TET-II exam. Slowly but steadily, the education system in our state is witnessing a positive change. Students are also beginning to understand the importance of quality education.”
Sharing Papan’s inspiring journey, Nath said Papan had enrolled in the Blind School at Narsingarh back in 2008. Today, despite being blind, he has scored an impressive result and emerged as the state topper in TET-II among 32,286 candidates. He has done MA in History from IGNOU and enrolled for M.Ed.
