West Bengal extends deadline for surrender of Swasthya Sathi, Ayushman cards

Kolkata, Oct 30 (UNI) The West Bengal government has extended by a month, till November 30, the deadline for its employees, pensioners and their enrolled beneficiaries under the West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) to surrender Swasthya Sathi and/or Ayushman Bharat cards and submit the prescribed declaration and proof of surrender.
The extension was announced in an order issued by the state Finance Department on October 30, after the government observed that a considerable number of employees, pensioners and their enrolled beneficiaries were yet to complete the surrender process and submit the requisite documents.
The original deadline was October 31, 2026, stipulated in the department's Order No. 92-F(MED)WB dated October 9, 2026.
The October 9 order covered all employees and pensioners under the WBHS, including those belonging to the All India Services (AIS), as well as their enrolled beneficiaries who hold Swasthya Sathi and/or Ayushman Bharat cards.
Under the revised timeline, such employees, pensioners and beneficiaries will now have until November 30 to surrender the cards and submit the prescribed declaration, along with proof of surrender, before the designated authorities.
The latest order said the extension had been granted to provide those who were yet to comply with the earlier directions an opportunity to complete the process.
The government has not altered any other provision of the October 9 order. All other terms, conditions, instructions and directions contained in that order will remain unchanged and continue to be in force, the Finance Department said.
The state has also directed all Heads of Offices, Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and Pension Sanctioning Authorities to take necessary action to ensure strict compliance with the directions within the extended timeline.
The order was issued by Khalid A. Anwar, IAS, Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, on behalf of the Governor.
The extension means that eligible employees, pensioners and enrolled beneficiaries who have not yet completed the surrender formalities will get an additional month to submit the cards, the prescribed declaration and proof of surrender to the designated authorities.
The government had earlier directed the concerned beneficiaries to surrender the cards as part of the provisions set out in its October 9 order, with October 31 fixed as the cut-off date. UNI SEN NST
