Wife, paramour, brothers held for husband’s murder in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jun 26 (UNI) In an incident bearing eerie similarities to the murder of an Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvansh, a man was allegedly killed in a remote village in Meghalaya‘s West Garo Hills district by his wife, her paramour, and her two brothers, sources said today.
The incident came to light when Oman Marak, brother of the victim, lodged an FIR on May 7 informing the police about the death of his brother Pirot R Marak under suspicious conditions.
Pirot, a farmer by profession, was killed by his wife Nennen R Marak, her paramour Reknan K Sangma, and her two brothers on April 15 at Rengigre village under Raksamgre Civil Sub-Division, Thurendro Ch Sangma, the uncle of the victim Pirot, told UNI.
Thurendro said Pirot had objected on several occasions over his wife Nennen’s illicit relationship with one Reknan from the same village. The couple has three children aged between 6 and 13 years old.
One day prior to the alleged murder, Thurendro said, “the family members of both sides had met after Nennen had eloped with Reknan and returned home after four days. The next day the victim was reported dead and buried behind the house.”
He said the family of the victim and also the villagers filed an FIR at the Tikrikilla police station.
“Since the relatives of the victim filed an FIR after more than 15 days of the incident and that the body had also been buried by the family members, police registered a case u/s 103(1)/3(5) of BNS on the same day of receiving the FIR,” said Abraham Sangma, the district police chief of West Garo Hills.
He said the police then prayed to the Court for exhumation of the dead body in the presence of a magistrate and for post mortem.
The body was exhumed on June 12 and the post mortem report showed injuries in the victim’s neck and private parts, the police official said.
Based on the post mortem and the FIR, police arrested the wife together with her paramour and also her two brothers on June 24. Police said investigation is on and a murder case was registered against the accused persons. UNI RRK SSP
