Woman injured in leopard attack allegedly denied timely treatment in Maha, forced to seek care in Gujarat

Nashik, Oct 22 (UNI) Serious questions have been raised over Maharashtra’s healthcare system after a 38-year-old woman, Madhu Bablu Sabad, from the Kathewadi area near Thengoda in Baglan taluka of Nashik district, was allegedly denied timely medical treatment following a leopard attack.
According to reports, the woman sustained serious injuries in the attack and had to travel to Gujarat for further treatment after complaints that a necessary vaccine was unavailable. She is currently reportedly in a coma and battling for her life.
The incident has raised concerns over the availability of emergency medical facilities and essential medicines in government hospitals, particularly when dealing with serious injuries caused by wildlife attacks.
Baglan taluka has witnessed growing concern among residents over leopard attacks, which have created an atmosphere of fear in the region. Amid these incidents, questions are now being raised about whether victims are receiving timely and adequate medical care.
Ms Sabad suffered critical injuries after being attacked by a leopard in the Thengoda area. Given the seriousness of her condition, immediate medical attention was essential. However, a complaint has emerged that the vaccine required for her treatment was not available, reportedly forcing her family to seek treatment in neighbouring Gujarat.
With the woman’s condition said to be critical, her family is facing an extremely difficult situation.
The incident has prompted questions about the preparedness of Maharashtra’s public healthcare system. If a seriously injured woman had to travel to another state to get treatment, concerns arise over the availability of essential vaccines, medicines and emergency services in government hospitals.
Several questions remain unanswered: Was the required vaccine unavailable at the concerned hospital? Did the woman receive appropriate treatment in time? And why did her family have to travel to Gujarat for further medical care?
Residents are demanding answers from the administration and the Health department, stressing that government hospitals must be adequately equipped to handle medical emergencies, including injuries caused by wildlife attacks.
While leopard attacks have become a source of fear for residents in the region, the alleged difficulties in accessing timely treatment have added to their concerns.
The incident has renewed calls for the state government and Health authorities to investigate the matter urgently, ensure the availability of essential vaccines and medicines, and take steps to prevent similar situations in the future.
The key question remains: Will the state government and the Health department take immediate action to address these concerns, or will ordinary citizens continue to struggle for access to essential emergency medical care?
