World Food Safety Day observed by Vijayawada Railway Division

Vijayawada, June 7 (UNI) As part of the observance of World Food Safety Day, a Food Safety Meeting was conducted here on Saturday.

The session was held under the guidance of Dr. Ch. Srinivasu, Chief Medical Superintendent, Vijayawada Division, and South Central Railway. It brought together key railway officials and stakeholders to reinforce the importance of food safety in the railway premises.

More than 40 Food Business Operators (FBOs) and food handlers participated in the refresher training session. The interactive training emphasized vital aspects of food handling and preparation, personal hygiene, sanitation, proper storage and preservation of food, and compliance with food safety regulations.

The session highlighted the need for continuous vigilance and adherence to protocols to ensure that food served at the station premises meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

Dr. M. Jaideep, ACMS (Health & Family Welfare), Vijayawada Divisional Hospital, stated: “Ensuring food safety is not a one-time act but a daily commitment. With thousands of passengers relying on us, we must build a culture of safety, hygiene, and responsibility among all food handlers.”

Echoing this sentiment, SK Rahamathulla, Food Safety Officer, added: “The Eat Right India movement has laid a strong foundation for healthier food environments. Through continuous training and awareness, we can make Vijayawada Railway Station a model for food safety compliance in the railway network.”

This initiative plays a key role in supporting the FosTac (Food Safety Training and Certification) program and the Eat Right Station certification efforts at Vijayawada Railway Station.

These programs aim to enhance public health standards and ensure the well-being of passengers through the strict implementation of food safety norms. The session served as both a knowledge-sharing platform and a reaffirmation of the collective responsibility to uphold food safety within the railway environment.
