Zilla Parishad school headmasters attend workshop to promote Tobacco-free campus

Kolhapur, June 30 (UNI) A workshop for headmasters and teachers of Zilla Parishad schools and other managements was held at the headmaster's association hall with the aim of making schools in the district tobacco-free.
This workshop was organised under the guidance of the District Collector and Chief Executive Officer in collaboration with the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP), Zilla Parishad Education Department and Salam Mumbai Foundation Mumbai.
In the programme, Education Officer (Primary) Dr Meena Shendkar highlighted the importance of tobacco-free living, explaining that it is the need of the hour for the future generation to remain addiction-free.
District Advisor Dr V A Arlekar gave information about the COTPA Act 2003, the ill effects of tobacco consumption, and the penalty of up to Rs 200.
He appealed to make as many schools in the taluka as possible tobacco-free under the guidance of District Surgeon Dr Supriya Deshmukh and District Health Officer Dr Aniruddha Pimple.
A large number of centre heads, headmasters, and teachers from all the Karveer talukas attended this workshop.
