233 Donate Blood at Ambala Cantt Mega Camp Under ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’

Ambala, Oct 6 (UNI) As many as 233 people donated blood at a mega donation camp organised by the BJP’s Sadar and Shastri mandals at Farukha Khalsa School in Ambala Cantt on Tuesday as part of the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ being observed from September 17 to October 17 to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service.
Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij, who inaugurated the camp, announced that each blood donor would receive an honorarium of ₹1,100 from his discretionary fund as a token of appreciation.
He also felicitated donors with badges and certificates and encouraged the women workers who participated in large numbers.
Addressing the media at the camp, Vij said the response had exceeded expectations, with donors turning up in large numbers and queues forming at the venue. He said the campaign had set a target of collecting 400 units of blood through camps organised across four mandals, and expressed confidence that the target would be surpassed.
The Minister said blood donation camps had already been organised by the Rural and Mahesh Nagar mandals, while the Sadar and Shastri mandal camp held on Tuesday witnessed an overwhelming response.
Vij said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan was aimed at encouraging people to contribute to society in whatever way they could. The month-long programme includes activities in schools and Anganwadi centres, lamp-lighting programmes on Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, public programmes, medical check-up camps and blood donation drives.
He said the campaign was based on the idea that service should become a collective social resolve, adding that when people work together, the country can progress at a faster pace.
The programme was attended by Municipal Council President Swarn Kaur, Vice-President Lalta Prasad and several BJP leaders and workers.
As part of the same campaign, a district-level ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ will be held on October 7 at 8:30 am at Police Lines, Ambala City, with Minister Anil Vij as the chief guest.
A large contingent of BJP workers from Ambala Cantt will leave Agrawal Dharamshala at 8 am to participate in the programme in Ambala City. UNI KK CDS
