Bihar: Three minor Nepali girls rescued while allegedly being trafficked to India

Motihari, Sep 20 (UNI) Three minor Nepali girls allegedly being brought to India from Nepal were rescued in a joint operation by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and police in Bihar’s East Champaran district, while a youth was apprehended in connection with the case, police said here today.
Police said that the three minors told investigators during preliminary questioning that they had come to India without informing their families. Police suspect that they may have been lured and brought to India for exploitation. However, the exact circumstances and the role of the apprehended youth will be established only after further investigation.
The girls, aged 15, 16 and 17, are residents of Nepal’s Makwanpur district, sources said.
The apprehended youth was identified as Salauddin Ansari, a resident of Haruni village under Dhaka police station area of East Champaran.
Police said an electric scooter, five mobile phones, a letter, the Aadhaar and PAN cards of the youth, along with 510 Nepalese rupees and Rs 520 in Indian currency, were recovered.
The three minors are being kept under safe custody and arrangements are being made to send them to the Girls’ Observation Home in Bettiah, police said. Further legal action is underway.
