Gadre holds 7-under lead in NCR Cup

Noida, Sept 24 (UNI) Shashank Sachin Gadre held his nerve to retain the overall lead while Taanush Kumar produced the round of the tournament with a stunning six-under 65 on a high-scoring second day of the 26th NCR Cup Junior & Amateur Golf Tournament at Jaypee Greens Wish Town here on Thursday.
Gadre, who opened with a 67, carded a composed three-under 68 to take his 36-hole aggregate to seven-under 135 and preserve a three-shot lead going into Friday's final round in the Category A & B Boys competition.
Sakshity Pureandre emerged as the day's biggest challenger, firing a blistering five-under 66 to move into sole second place at four-under 138.
Category B leader Chaitanya Pandey continued his impressive run with a one-under 70 to reach 140, sharing third place overall with Category A players Arshvant Srivastava and Smyaan Gupta, who also returned 71s.
Zoravar Singh Toor also made significant progress with a three-under 68.
In the girls' Category A & B, Gauri Sharma broke away from a three-way overnight tie with the only under-par round of the division, a two-under 69, to take sole possession of the lead at 145, three-over par.
Aahana Kashyap remained within striking distance in second at 147 after an even-par 71, while Samaira Tomar was third at 148 following another 71.
Category B leader Dalisha Chetry strengthened her position with a 72 to move to 149.
Among the amateurs, Ritik Madan extended his commanding advantage in the Gentlemen's division with a level-par 71, highlighted by a flawless three-under 32 on the back nine, taking his two-round total to 143.
Madan leads Kushagra Gaur by 14 shots, with Gaur on 157, while Harssh Ranna is third at 160.
Anoop Singh took over the lead in the Ladies Amateur division.
The opening round for Categories C, D and E also produced some eye-catching performances, with Taanush Kumar stealing the show.
Kumar fired a spectacular six-under 65, featuring rounds of 33 and 32, to establish a seven-shot lead in Category D Boys over Priyansh Jain, who carded 72.
In Category C Boys, Avviraaj shot 74 to lead by one stroke over Mohammad Rehan, Drona Singh Dhull and Shan Alvi, all tied on 75.
Aaliyah Kalra dominated Category C Girls with a one-over 72, opening an 11-shot lead over Samaira Handa and Aadya Kaushal, both on 83.
Mahira Sharma led Category D Girls with a two-over 73.
In Category E, played over nine holes, Zowra Veer Sikand topped the boys' section with a five-under 31, two shots ahead of Lakshit Deswal and Siddhik Chaturvedi, both on 33.
Manasvi Rathor led the Category E Girls with a four-under 32, four strokes clear of Kaaira Khunga.
The tournament, conducted under the aegis of the Delhi Golf Society and carrying official World Amateur Golf Ranking points, will conclude with the final round for the leading categories.
