Jharkhand minister asks officials to ensure smooth goods movement during festivals

Ranchi, Oct 10 (UNI) Jharkhand Finance and Commercial Taxes Minister Radha Krishna Kishore on Saturday directed officials to ensure that goods vehicles do not face disruption in city areas during the festive season, following a request by the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI).
A chamber delegation led by its president Tulsi Patel met the minister and sought departmental instructions against stopping or seizing vehicles in market areas in the name of permit and e-way bill checks during the festive period.
The minister directed the Commercial Taxes Department secretary to ensure that vehicle movement within cities was not disrupted, the chamber said in a statement.
Kishore, however, said complaints were being received that some traders were not issuing proper invoices and urged the business community to take the matter seriously.
The delegation also raised concerns over vacant joint commissioner posts in several Commercial Taxes Department circles, saying the vacancies were delaying statutory and administrative work and causing difficulties for businesses.
Chamber representatives said traders dealing in petroleum products, liquor and other non-GST goods under the Jharkhand Value Added Tax (JVAT) regime were facing problems obtaining new JVAT and Central Sales Tax (CST) registrations, making amendments, updating business and warehouse addresses, and securing statutory forms.
FJCCI general secretary Rohit Agrawal said delays in registration-related work affected business activity and could also have implications for state revenue. The delegation sought early appointments to vacant posts and proposed that senior officials be given temporary administrative powers until regular appointments were made.
The minister assured the delegation that a decision would be taken soon. He also proposed a joint meeting involving department officials and chamber representatives after Chhath Puja to discuss the issues.
