Rain washes out T20I decider after India post 118/5; series ends 2-2

Bengaluru, Oct 17 (UNI) Persistent rain washed out the fifth and final T20 International between India and West Indies at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Saturday, leaving the five-match series tied 2-2.
India had posted 118 for five in 7.4 overs after West Indies elected to field, but the visitors never got an opportunity to bat as rain prevented the resumption of play.
The match officials had set a target of 84 runs in five overs for West Indies under the revised playing conditions. However, the weather failed to relent, forcing the abandonment of the series decider.
The players eventually shook hands, bringing an end to a rain-hit contest that had promised a high-scoring finish.
India made full use of their brief innings, scoring at 15.39 runs per over. Ishan Kishan smashed 30 off just 10 balls, while Naman Dhir provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 24 off six deliveries.
Kishan struck three fours and two sixes, while Dhir cleared the ropes three times and hit a four to lift India past the 100-run mark.
Captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 22 off 14 balls, while wicketkeeper Sanju Samson made 16 off seven deliveries. Tilak Varma scored seven and Abhishek Sharma managed six.
India lost Abhishek early, but Kishan counter-attacked to keep the scoreboard moving. Kishan fell at 45, caught by Rovman Powell off Shamar Joseph, while Samson was bowled by Shamar Springer at 66.
Iyer departed at 88, caught by Shamar Joseph off Keemo Paul, before Springer bowled Tilak to leave India at 118 for five in 7.4 overs.
Keemo Paul and Springer claimed two wickets each, while Joseph took one.
The mandatory powerplay yielded 46 runs, underlining India's aggressive approach in the curtailed innings.
With the final match abandoned, both teams finished the series level at 2-2.
