Rajasthan: Congress stages overnight dharna for filing of FIR against Delhi Police

Jaipur, Oct 19 (UNI) The opposition Congress staged indefinite dharna at the Jaipur police commissionerate here tonight demanding zero number FIR against the Delhi Police for ruthless beating up of Congress activist Ritu Barala during the party agitation last week.
The Congress leaders and workers, led by the party state president Govind Singh Dotasra, party chief whip Rafeek Khan, Jaipur district president Sunil Sharma, and NSUI President Vinod Jakhar, reached the police commissionerate headquarters around 6:15 PM following refusal of filing FIR against the Delhi police by the Lal Kothi police station here.
An officer of additional commissioner rank advised the leaders to wait in the waiting hall until he speaks to higher ups to seek guidance in the matter. However, the aforementioned officer did not turn up until midnight.
While the Congress leaders were sitting in the waiting hall, scores of party workers were on dharna outside commissionerate office.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was on tour to Jaisalmer-Jodhpur today, reached the state capital late tonight and went straight to the commissionerate headquarters around midnight to join the protesting party colleagues.
"We are sitting here for past more than 5 hours and will continue to do so (even overnight) until their demand of registration of zero FIR is met," Dotasra asserted.
The party has made the move of filing the FIR on word received from the Delhi High Command.
