Türkiye, Azerbaijan & Georgia deepen strategic defense cooperation

Ankara, Oct 3 (UNI) Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security cooperation across the South Caucasus at a trilateral Defense Ministers’ Meeting held in Shusha, Azerbaijan.
Türkiye’s Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani chaired the meeting, concluding it with the signing of a joint communiqué.
Güler emphasised that the historic ties between the three neighboring countries have evolved into "deepening, multidimensional strategic cooperation, supported by mutual trust and shared regional interests."
He highlighted growing cooperation in defense, military training, joint exercises, interoperability, energy, transportation and communications, stressing that protecting critical regional projects is a shared responsibility.
“We are ready to elevate the existing trust and solidarity among the three countries to even higher levels.”
Güler also reiterated Türkiye’s support for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Georgia, while welcoming recent developments aimed at establishing peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The three countries signaled their intention to further expand cooperation in support of peace, security, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus.
