UP: Yogi and Bhupendra Yadav hold crucial meeting on pollution control in Delhi-NCR

Lucknow, Sept 18 (UNI) A high-level review meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav to discuss the air pollution situation in Delhi-NCR and preparations for pollution control during the upcoming winter.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister's residence at 5 Kalidas Marg, reviewed the steps taken so far to curb air pollution in the Uttar Pradesh portion of the NCR.
Senior officials from the central and state governments, including the Chairman of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), also attended the meeting.
The meeting deliberated on effective control measures against major sources of pollution.
Action plans for controlling vehicular pollution, industrial emissions, dust from construction and demolition activities, road dust, and other local sources were reviewed.
The central government also emphasised the implementation of pre-prepared action plans for the states in the NCR and on-the-ground action.
Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav recently urged the State Pollution Control Boards to pay special attention to pollution hotspots and take strict action against industries violating regulations.
The meeting also discussed strengthening the monitoring system for pollution control, better coordination between concerned departments, and timely implementation of the established action plan.
The Central Government is also continuously emphasising increasing the role of local bodies and public participation in the NCR.
Given the possibility of increasing air quality challenges in Delhi-NCR during winter, the meeting is considered important to ensure pre-emptive control of pollution sources in the NCR districts of Uttar Pradesh.
