'Bhagirathi' of UCC originating from Uttarakhand will flow across country: Dhami

'Bhagirathi' of UCC originating from Uttarakhand will flow across country: Dhami

Bareilly (UP), Mar 31 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday said that the Bhagirathi (mammoth) effort regarding Uniform Civil Code (UCC) that started from Devbhoomi will spread across the country.

The CM said that incidents like the Shraddha murder case in Delhi will not be allowed to happen in Uttarakhand. "This law has a provision to give information about people living in live-in relationships to their families," he said.

While picking up the mace received during the ceremony organised in his honour, he said that this honour is dedicated to the people of Uttarakhand. He said that separation in live-in relationships affects children, so a provision has also been made in the UCC to protect the rights of such children. He called it an important step towards women's empowerment.

Dhami said that the opposition parties have used the public only for votes. "After the implementation of the UCC, Muslim sisters are thanking the BJP government," he said.

He reiterated his commitment to make Uttarakhand an ideal state and assured effective implementation of the UCC.

The Uttarakhand CM mentioned the major achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which include the construction of the Shri Ram Temple, abrogation of Article 370, and the Triple Talaq law. He said that the effect of the UCC will not be limited to Uttarakhand only, but its harmonious flow will extend across the country.

He clarified that this law is not against any religion, community, or sect. "The UCC will also resolve disputes related to property inheritance and will play an important role in the empowerment of women," he said.

While talking to the reporters on this occasion, Dhami said that the UCC has been implemented in Uttarakhand on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "UCC is the demand of the people today," he said.

He said that just as Mother Ganga emerges from Gangotri and irrigates the entire country, in the same way UCC has started from Uttarakhand and will soon be implemented in the entire country.

Targeting those opposing UCC, he said that the people of the country are demanding UCC today. Attacking Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, he said that Ram Mandir could never be built during his and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav's rule, and they opened fire on unarmed karsevaks.

Discussing 'one country, one legislation' and UCC, the CM highlighted the implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand and its extensive benefits. He said that this law is equal for people of all religions and is in line with the development of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

He openly expressed his views on one country, one legislation, new Hindustan, and UCC and said that we are moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that innovation is happening in the country and since 2014, every work is being done, which the country was waiting for a long time, whether it is Article 370 in Kashmir or the construction of Lord Ram's temple in Ayodhya, the law on triple talaq or the CAA law or India's recognition getting more established globally.

On the question of a section being angry about UCC, he said that UCC has been provided for in Article 44 of the Indian Constitution. "Those who talk like this will not accept UCC or the Constitution. Will not accept the system here. Who can they be? They are anti-establishment and anti-constitution people. They are people who do not believe in Baba Saheb Ambedkar," he said.

He said, "We have never talked about appeasing anyone. Under the leadership of the PM, we are working on a mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas. UCC was implemented in Uttarakhand, and it was never opposed anywhere."
