AP: Bank officer-turned-thief arrested with 2 pistols, 7 bullets

Kakinada, Mar 19 (UNI) In a twist of fate, a suspended bank officer who had turned into a thief for leading a luxurious lifestyle in a cinematic fashion, ultimately landed into a police dragnet.
The Kakinada district police have nabbed the culprit basing on intelligence information while he was planning to commit bank robberies.
Two pistols and seven bullets purchased from Bihar were also seized from him.
Thus, the police have averted a major crime from being committed by the accused.
Briefing the details of the arrest to media persons at Sarpavaram police station here on Wednesday, SP Garikipati Bindu Madhav gave the name of the accused as Chitikela Nageswerarao native of Visakhapatnam. He worked as a probationary officer in Chaitanya Godavari Bank in West Godavari district and used to online betting and other vices and was suspended for misusing 900 grams of bank gold. Later, he withdrew Rs 2.30 lakh by using the password from Chaitanya Godavari Bank ATM at Yelesweram where he worked previously .
He was also involved in chain snatching and burglaries and lifting of motorcycles.
Cases were registered against him at four police stations, SP said.
Finally, with a view to settle permanently with decent living, he planned bank robberies and ATM robberies and even conducted recce in Andhra, Tamil Nadu border areas and caught in Gollaprolu police station limits, SP added .
