Telangana budget deceives people with inflated estimates: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, Mar 19 (UNI) Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday criticised the Telangana state budget for 2025-26, calling it a "deception through number juggling."
He condemned the Congress government's handling of finances, accusing it of making unrealistic promises and failing to deliver on key welfare commitments.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Reddy claimed the budget lacked clarity on implementing the party's election guarantees, particularly regarding financial support for women, tenant farmers, and agricultural labourers.
He highlighted the drastic reduction in allocations for agriculture and criticised the absence of promised unemployment benefits.
He accused the Congress government of inflating GST and excise revenue estimates while relying heavily on alcohol sales for state income. He also criticised the budget's minimal allocation of only 12 per cent for capital expenditure, warning this would hinder the state's development.
Reddy further pointed out the "failure to provide increased pensions", reduced funding for healthcare, and a weakened education budget, stating that these cuts would severely impact public welfare. He condemned the Congress for following the debt-heavy policies of the previous BRS government, increasing Telangana's financial burden.
The BJP strongly opposed the budget, demanding a revision that prioritises welfare, development, and improved financial management. UNI VV SSP
