Arunachal: Woman drug peddler arrested, 17.2 gm of suspected heroin seized

Itanagar, Apr 27 (UNI) In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, the Ziro Police team, under the guidance of Lower Subansiri district Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, arrested a woman allegedly involved in drug peddling.
Acting on a credible information that one Chiging Rillung (50) was in possession of contraband substances and operating from her rented apartment near the Medical Colony, a swift operation was launched by a team comprising Sub-Inspectors J Yomcha, J Doye, ASI C Tallo, and constables T Param and C Seema, under the supervision of SDPO Ziro.
Upon thorough search of the premises, the team recovered 13 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 17.2 grams from her possession.
The alleged accused had reportedly been under police surveillance for quite some time prior to the arrest. All necessary legal formalities were meticulously conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses to ensure transparency.
Following the seizure, a case under Sections 21(a), 27(a) of the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at Ziro PS, and the investigation was entrusted to SI K Yigam.
Further investigation is underway as the police continue their determined efforts to dismantle drug networks in the region.
