Balaram Shaw's painful wait for his son ends in joy

Rishra (Hooghly), May 14 (UNI) After a 23-day long painful wait, Bholanath Shaw is now a relieved man and brims with pride at the mention of his son BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw who was released by Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday.
Purnam Kumar was detained by the Pakistani Rangers on April 23 after he inadvertently crossed the border in Punjab.
Bholanath said he is not scared to sacrifice his son at the altar of " Bharat Mata" if he saves the country and its people from the enemy. The old man says he is ready to send him again to his present posting at Ferozepur in Punjab.
Bholanath said he is thankful to the countrymen, his neighbours, politicians as well as the Indian leadership for their deep concern for his son.
He also lauded the government's sincere efforts to get his son back home from the moment he was taken away by the Pakistani Rangers a day after the Pahalgam massacre.
Bholanath recalled that he received phone calls from a large number of people including political leaders, who assured him his son would be back.
On Wednesday, he received a steady stream of people who came to greet him and his family members after hearing that Purnam was released at the Attari border.
"I first got a call from BSF headquarters around 8-30 am that my son would be back soon," he said, looking emotional.
"They have kept their promise," the thin haired man told reporters amidst scenes of jubilation as the visitors were treated with sweets.
"I would appeal to all the soldiers of the country to be prepared to safeguard the country and also take my son to the border post and fight until the enemy and the terrorists are exterminated." Bholanath said.
The BSF Jawan's aged mother and pregnant wife Rajani echoed Bholanath. They are equally proud to be THE mother and the wife of the trooper.
Rajani , wearing a green saree with white stripes, looked happy and jovial.
Asked if she wanted her husband to go back to the border again, Rajani said it was up to him to decide.
"We are proud to be the family members of a Fauzi and everyone respects us for my husband's job," said Rajani, now pregnant with her second child.
She also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuing her Sindoor (vermilion - a mark of a married Hindu woman) intact.
"Yes we waited a bit long, for 23 days, since he was taken away on April 23. But taking revenge of the mass massacre in Pahalgam is a greater job than getting my husband back.
"We are happy that soon after the operation Sindoor and ceasefire my husband has returned," she signed off.
