Chennai, Mar 25 (UNI) In a meticulous and swift operation, the Greater Chennai City police on Tuesday arrested two North Indians at the airport, who were involved in a series of chain snatching
incident in the city by operating on 'Fly-in and Fly-out' model.
They were arrested within three hours after being involved in eight chain snatching incidents in a short span of time, after police acted swiftly, analysed the CCTV footages and nabbed them at the airport while they were about to board a flight to Delhi and Mumbai en route to their native Uttar Pradesh.
The duo were identified as Suraj (28) and Jaffer (26), whose modus operandi is to land in the city
by air, indulge in a series of chain snatchings at a particular area and fly out in a jiffy.

in January.
Special teams formed to nab the culprits in the wake of recent spurt in chain snatching incidents especially in areas coming under the Adyar Police Zone, traced the mobile number linked to one
of them, tracked their movements using the mobile towers, and found that they were heading to
the airport.
The police officials alerted the staffs at the IndiGo and Air India counters in the airport after ascertaining that they were planning to board a flight to Delhi and Mumbai.
When Suraj came to the Indigo counter to get his boarding pass to board a flight to Delhi, the
staff grew suspicious, alerted the Airport police, leading to his arrest.
Similarly Jaffar was arrested at the Air India counter when he went to get a boarding pass to
take a flight to Mumbai.
During questioning, they confessed to their involvement in several chain snatching incidents,
