Child among 5 trapped in lift at Kannur Railway station

Kannur, Mar 24 (UNI) Five commuters, including a child, were trapped in a malfunctioning lift at Kannur Railway Station on Monday, causing them to miss the Vande Bharat Express.
The ordeal commenced around 3 pm when the group, having arrived at Platform No. 3 attempted to access Platform No. 1 via the station's elevator. However, a sudden technical fault caused the lift to stall, trapping the passengers inside.
Upon receiving the alert, officials promptly mobilised a rescue operation. However, as the extrication efforts proved more protracted than expected, the train was compelled to depart after halting for 10 minutes, leaving the passengers stranded in the station
Following their safe release which took more than an hour, railway authorities arranged special facilities for the people to travel in Kannur Express as a gesture of accommodation and goodwill. UNI AK SSP
