Congress will continue to fight till Suryavanshi's family gets justice: Sapkal

Mumbai, Mar 21 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Harshavardhan Sapkal on Friday accused the state government of attempting to suppress the death of Somnath Suryavanshi in police brutality and pass it on as death due to natural causes.
The post-mortem report confirmed that he died due to police assault while in custody, yet the government did not take it seriously, he said.
Reacting to the incident, Sapkal said that the Parbhani case is extremely serious and a blot on humanity. "The police failed to properly handle the case of desecration of the Constitution’s replica in Parbhani.
"While a peaceful protest was on in the city, the police resorted to brutal baton charges, severely assaulting many people and imprisoning several others. Suryavanshi was also arrested at this time, brutally beaten, and eventually died due to the assault," he said,
Congress will continue to pursue this case until Suryavanshi’s family gets justice, Sapkal added.
