Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) In a major crackdown on illegal betting operations, Hyderabad City Police on Saturday busted an organised cricket betting racket, arresting three individuals and seizing property worth approximately Rs three lakh.
Acting on credible information, the South-East Zone Task Force of the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Police, in coordination with Mangalhat Police, raided a premises in Dhoolpet and apprehended three accused—Vicky Singh (38), a resident of Nala Machilipura and the main bookie; V Rakesh (39), a sub-bookie from the Akashpuri Hanuman Temple area in Dhoolpet; and B Sandeep (26), a punter residing in Dhankawadi, Goshamahal.
According to police, the accused were caught red-handed while accepting bets on ongoing IPL 2025 matches using illegal line numbers sourced from the main bookie, Shailender, based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
During the operation, police seized Rs 1,04,400 in cash, six mobile phones and an LED TV—all used in connection with the betting activity. The total value of the seized property is estimated to be around Rs three lakh.
The arrested individuals and the recovered items were handed over to the Station House Officer, Mangalhat Police Station, for further investigation and legal action.
