Damoh/Bhopal, Apr 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh police on Monday arrested an alleged "fake heart doctor" Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, also known as "Dr N Zone Kem," who has performed over half a dozen operations at a hospital here.
A senior state police officer confirmed this to UNI, saying the accused has been taken into custody and is being brought to Damoh.
After this, he will be questioned after completing the necessary formalities in the case registered at the Kotwali police station here late Sunday night.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has initiated an investigation into the matter. Commission member Priyank Kanungo said in a message issued to the media that a complaint has been received regarding a missionary hospital located in Damoh.
The complaint states that a "fake doctor" of the hospital "has taken the lives" of many people by performing heart disease surgery.
According to the complaint, the hospital is also taking money from the government for treating patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Describing the complaint as serious, Kanungo said the commission is taking cognisance of it. Further action will also be taken.
Police said Kem's documents were deemed suspicious after being examined by a team of doctors. An FIR was subsequently registered once the documents were found to be questionable.
He allegedly performed heart surgery on more than half a dozen people between December 2024 and February, and all of them reportedly died.
A report in this regard was received by the police from the Chief Medical and Health Officer, stating that Narendra Anjon Kem had fraudulently provided his services by performing angioplasty.Meanwhile, the administration has confirmed the death of two people following operations conducted by the allegedly fraud doctor.
