Himachal: HC to hear Harikesh Meena’s bail plea on Apr 9

Shimla, Apr 7 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court has listed the bail application of Harikesh Meena, co-accused in the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation chief engineer Vimal Negi abetment to suicide case, for consideration on April nine.
The matter was listed before the bench of Justice Verinder Singh today, but adjourned for further hearing after two days.
Earlier, the state submitted status report in the same matter before the bench and sought direction from the court to accused to join the hearing, but court maintained that no such direction would be issued against the accused unless his bail application couldn't be considered by the court.
Meena, along with Desh Raj (a senior HPPCL official), was booked by the state police after Negi, who had been missing since March 10 was found dead in Govind Sagar Lake, Bilaspur, on March 18.
The deceased’s family alleged that workplace harassment led to his suicide. In same matter, Supreme Court on April four allowed the interim bail to co-accused Desh Raj.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court granted interim protection to Desh Raj, directing no coercive action against him until the next hearing on July 22, 2025.
