Shahjahanpur (UP), April 7 (UNI) A youth was arrested from Jalalabad area of Shahjahanpur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday after a letter threatening to blow Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was received by the police, a senior officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi said that the Public Grievance Cell office had received a letter by the registered post in the name of Abid Ansari and his brother Mehndi Ansari claiming that both were Pakistani agents.
"In the letter it was claimed that they have come here to take revenge for the encounter of Atiq Ahmed and they will kill CM Yogi on April 10," he said.
The SP said that after the letter was received, a case was registered on April 6 by Sub Inspector Dinesh Kumar of Sadar police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). "With the help of CCTV and surveillance, the police arrested Azim, a resident of Gunara village Jalalabad police station," he said.
He said that during interrogation, it was revealed that Azim and Abid Ansari had a rivalry over land dispute.
"It was revealed that Azim sent the letter to the police to frame Abid and Mehndi Ansari. The police are interrogating the accused," he said.
