Eid to be celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday

Srinagar, Mar 30 (UNI) Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan, will be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Sunday said witnesses have been on record on the sighting of the Shawaal moon.
Muslims across the world follow the lunar calendar and the sighting of the Shawwal crescent marks the end of the month of fasting and Eid.
Greetings poured in from all over on the festive eve.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his message on the auspicious occasion, highlighted the significance of Eid as a divine blessing following a month of fasting and devotion.

He emphasised that Eid is an occasion to express gratitude to the Almighty and to cherish the spirit of togetherness and compassion fostered during Ramadan.

“Eid is a time when people come together to celebrate the blessings of Ramadan, strengthening the bonds of community and reinforcing the values of mutual respect and brotherhood. It is a time to share happiness, extend kindness and support those in need,” Omar Abdullah said.

On this occasion, he prayed for peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and for all those celebrating Eid across the world.

The President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Farooq Abdullah also extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid Ul Fitr.

“I extend my heartfelt wishes to the people on this auspicious occasion, praying that the Almighty accepts our month-long fasting, repentance, prayers, and rectitude. May the Almighty promote unity among people and further the cause of harmony and brotherhood in J&K and around the world,” Abdullah said.
People's Democratic Party (PDP) President and former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti extended greetings to the people and conveyed her best wishes to all those celebrating and prayed for peace, prosperity and brotherhood.
Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari, while extending greetings to the people, said: ".....May this auspicious day and its celebrations bring peace, harmony, communal brotherhood, and prosperity to our region and its people.”
She emphasised that Eid symbolizes compassion, gratitude, and unity, marking the end of Ramadan’s month of fasting and prayer. Mufti urged people to help those in need and spread love and peace, expressing hope that Eid brings happiness to every household and strengthens harmony in society.
Senior BJP leader and party spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, Altaf Thakur extended warm greetings to the people on Eid ul-Fitr.

In his message, Thakur wished for peace, prosperity, and brotherhood among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the festival’s spirit of compassion and unity, urging citizens to embrace the values of harmony and coexistence.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V K Birdhi also extended warm greetings on the occasion.
