Fire destroys Gujjar camps in Himachal's Gondpur, leaving families homeless

Nahan, Apr 26 (UNI) A devastating fire broke out at the Gondpur Industrial Area in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district, causing extensive damage to the camps of the nomadic Gujjar community.
According to reports, the fire erupted last night in the camps of about half a dozen Gujjar families, allegedly due to a short circuit in a high-tension electric line, in the area that falls under the jurisdiction of Jathedar Sub-Mandalwata Sahib.
The flames quickly engulfed the camps, destroying all essential belongings, including food supplies, utensils, clothing, and bedding.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the incident.
However, the affected families, now left without shelter and basic necessities, are deeply concerned about their survival in the coming days.
The fire brigade managed to bring the blaze under control after extensive efforts lasting late into the night. By then, however, the fire had reduced the camps to ashes, leaving the families with nothing.
The displaced families are now seeking urgent assistance for food and shelter and have appealed to the local administration for proper compensation to help them recover from the devastating loss.
